Redispersible Latex Powder (RDP-VAE)

Redispersible latex powder is a modified latex powder obtained by spray drying a binary or ternary copolymer of vinyl acetate and versatate vinyl ester (VeoVa) or ethylene or acrylate. It has good redispersibility and redisperses into an emulsion when in contact with water. Its chemical properties are exactly the same as those of the initial emulsion.

Production Process

 

Redispersible latex powder refers to a polymer powder that is modified by adding other substances to a polymer emulsion and then spray-dried. It can be redispersed into an emulsion using water as a dispersion medium and has redispersibility.

1.Preparation of polymer emulsion:
First, a copolymer emulsion of vinyl acetate (VAc) and butyl acrylate (BA) is prepared by polymerization. This process involves selecting suitable emulsifiers, protective colloids and initiators, as well as controlling reaction conditions such as temperature, pressure and reaction time to ensure the effective polymerization reaction. Commonly used emulsifiers are sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (OP-10), protective colloid is polyvinyl alcohol (PVA1788), and initiator is ammonium persulfate (APS). By adjusting the amount of emulsifier and protective colloid, and controlling the ratio of monomers, a copolymer emulsion with good stability and suitable glass transition temperature (Tg) can be obtained.


2.Spray drying:
The prepared copolymer emulsion is converted into a powder state by spray drying technology. This process needs to be carried out under specific process conditions, including the control of parameters such as air inlet temperature, atomizer speed, and solid content of feed liquid. During the spray drying process, the emulsion is atomized into tiny droplets, which are then quickly dried in a hot air flow to form a powder with good fluidity.

3.‌Collection and Packaging‌:
The dried powder is collected and sieved to remove particles that do not meet the specifications, then packaged and stored in a cool and dry place to maintain its quality stability.

Packing and Storage

This product is packed in multi-layer paper bags lined with polyethylene layer. Net weight 25KG.
Empty bags can be recycled or incinerated. Unopened packaging can be stored for several years. Open packaging can make the moisture content of this product affected by air humidity. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Avoid storage under pressure.
