Product Physicochemical characteristics

H-HPC is a good thermoplastic material with a plastic temperature range of 130-150°C. Thermoplastic products still retain their water solubility. It has excellent film-forming properties, and the film formed is very tough, has good gloss and sufficient elasticity.

The ash content is extremely low, which makes this product have excellent adhesion. It is very stable as an emulsion adhesive and has good dispersibility.

Important Characteristic

H-HPC itself has no pharmacological effect, is non-toxic, and is harmless to physiology.

H-HPC is chemically inert and difficult to react chemically with other substances.

The distribution of substituents is relatively uniform and sufficient, and H-HPC has strong antibacterial properties.

The equilibrium moisture content is low and it is not sticky under high temperature conditions.

Due to its non-ionic nature, this product does not contain gel in acidic solutions and shows excellent stability in a wide range of pH values.

The aqueous solution of H-HPC can form a regular oriented liquid crystal.

The aqueous solution of H-HPC has a surface active effect

Its aqueous solution undergoes a reversible process of gelation and dissolution as the temperature rises and falls.

In addition, H-HPC also has the ability to gel, emulsify, foam, suspend, and thicken.

Dissolution Method

Dissolve in water:

A.Slowly add H-HPC to vigorously stirred water until it is completely dissolved. If all materials are added quickly, it will be difficult to dissolve.

B. Take 20%-30% of the predetermined amount of water and heat it to above 60℃. Slowly add H-HPC under sufficient stirring. After all H-HPC is added, add the remaining 70%-80% of water to completely dissolve it.

Dissolve in organic solvent: Slowly add H-HPC to the organic solvent under full stirring. It is difficult to dissolve it all at once.

Commonly used organic solvents: glacial acetic acid, acetone: water (9:1), benzene: methanol (1:1), chloroform, cyclohexanone, ethanol, formic acid (88%), glycerol: water (3:7), 95% isopropanol, methanol, dichloromethane: methanol (9:1), ethylene glycol, etc.

Application
  • 01
    Used as a viscous agent

In the pharmaceutical field, this product is mainly used as a binder, such as a binder for tablets, granules, and granules. The dosage is generally 1%-5% of the weight of the drug. Choose TZ-L or TZ-J. It can increase the stability of tablets, improve the hardness of tablets, and the dissolution time is better than that of tablets with raw materials as binders.

  • 02
Used as a film coating material for tablets

H-HPC has excellent film-forming properties, and the resulting film is tough and elastic, which can be compared with plasticizers. The equilibrium moisture content is very low. By mixing with other temperature-resistant coating agents, the stability of the film can be further improved. Generally, TZ-L type is selected.

  • 03
Used as a thickener for solvents, an additive for lotions, and a stabilizer for emulsions.

    Generally, TZ-M type is selected.

  • 04
    Skeleton sustained-release tablets

It can be used as a skeleton material to prepare skeleton sustained-release tablets. Sustained-release pellets and double-layer sustained-release tablets generally use TZ-M type.

  • 05
    Ointment gel

Used as a gel in ethanol situations and as an ointment base, generally TZ-M type is selected.

  • 06
    Drug carrier

Since H-HPC has excellent film-forming properties, it can be made into a solution in an organic solvent and into a film with good tensile strength, and can be used as a carrier for local therapeutic drugs in the human body.

Production Process

The production process of highly substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose (H-HPC) is based on the chemical modification of natural cellulose and mainly includes the following steps:

1.Raw material preparation: Extract high purity cellulose from plant sources such as wood or cotton.

2.Alkalinization: React cellulose with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and alkalize it under specific conditions to form alkali cellulose to open the hydrogen bonds between cellulose chains for subsequent reactions.

3.Etherification reaction: On the basis of alkali cellulose, propylene oxide is added as an etherifying agent and reacted under high temperature and high pressure conditions to successfully introduce hydroxypropyl groups into cellulose molecules to obtain highly substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose.

4.Neutralization and washing: Use acid solution to neutralize the remaining alkali, and remove by-products and unreacted starting materials through multiple water washings to purify the product.

5.Drying and crushing: The wet material after purification needs to be dried to remove moisture, and then further crushing and screening may be required to ensure that the particle size distribution meets the requirements.

6.Quality inspection: Strict quality inspection of the finished product, including the determination of viscosity, degree of substitution, purity and other indicators, to ensure that the product meets the application standards.
